Go Digit General Insurance Limited was incorporated in December 2016 and licensed by IRDAI in September 2017 (Registration No. 158). It’s backed by Fairfax Financial Holdings and chaired by Kamesh Goyal, a former CEO of Bajaj Allianz. It listed on the BSE and NSE in May 2024, which means its financials are now audited to stock-exchange disclosure standards, not just IRDAI filing standards.
Digit built its reputation on a fast, app-first buying and claims experience. It also sells through a large network of agents, brokers and IMFs as well as online. That combination of digital speed and a traditional distribution backbone is fairly unusual.
In this article, we will walk through Digit’s performance as an insurer, health insurance plans offered, and their pros and cons, to decide if they are a good fit for you.

What These Numbers Mean
Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR)
Using the figures from its latest public disclosures, Go Digit’s claim settlement ratio for the fiscal year 2026 sits at 94.32%. It has consistently maintained its CSR within the 94-95% range in the last 3 years, which is commendable.
Incurred Claim Ratio (ICR)
At 72.89% in FY26 , Digit paid roughly ₹73 in claims for every ₹100 collected in premium. That sits comfortably in the 60-80% range experts consider healthy, and it’s higher than most standalone health insurers reported for the same year with Star Health at 68.54%, Care Health at 70%, and Niva Bupa at 68.11%. It’s close to Bajaj General’s 72.56% and ICICI Lombard’s 71.10%.
A higher ICR within this band generally means the insurer is paying out claims rather than being unusually restrictive.
Complaint Volume:
Digit reported 21.69 complaints per 10,000 claims in FY2025-26. That’s slightly higher than the benchmark of 20 complaints per 10,000 claims.
Business Scale:
Digit’s total premium across all lines was about ₹11,294 crore in FY 2025-26, larger in aggregate than most standalone health insurers, including Care Health. But this figure spans motor, health, travel and property combined. Treat it as an indicator of overall company scale rather than health claims volume.
Digit Health Insurance Plans
Digit’s core health product is sold in three variants under one policy: Double Wallet, Infinity Wallet, and Worldwide Treatment.
Plans at a Glance
| Plan | Key Features | Key Limitation | Sum Insured | Best For |
| Double Wallet | No copay, no room rent cap, 10%/year cumulative bonus | Restoration once per year only; no air ambulance; shorter pre/post-hospitalisation window (30/60 days) | ₹2L – ₹3Cr | Budget-conscious buyers who want core cover without paying for extras they may not use |
| Infinity Wallet | No copay, no room rent cap, unlimited restoration, 50%/year cumulative bonus, air ambulance included | No overseas treatment option | ₹3L – ₹1Cr | Most individuals and families — the best-value variant for most buyers |
| Worldwide Treatment | Everything in Infinity Wallet, plus planned overseas treatment for conditions first diagnosed in India | Meaningfully higher premium for a benefit most buyers won’t use | ₹2L – ₹3Cr | Buyers who specifically want the option of treatment abroad |
Digit Double Wallet
Key Features:
- No room rent cap, no disease sub-limits, zero copay
- Pre and post-hospitalisation: 30/60 days
- Sum insured restoration once per policy year on partial exhaustion
- Cumulative bonus of 10% per claim-free year, up to 100% of base sum insured
- Personal accident cover of ₹50,000 built in
- Daycare, domiciliary hospitalisation, organ donor and bariatric surgery covered to sum insured
When it makes sense: You want core hospitalisation benefits, like no room rent capping and no copay, at the lowest entry premium, and you’re comfortable with a single annual restoration.
What to watch: No air ambulance cover, and pre/post-hospitalisation windows are shorter than the other two variants. If you want a materially stronger safety net for the same insurer, Infinity Wallet is usually a small premium jump away.
Digit Infinity Wallet
Key Features:
- No room rent cap, no disease sub-limits, zero copay
- Unlimited sum insured restoration during the policy year, any number of times
- Cumulative bonus of 50% per claim-free year, up to 100% of base sum insured
- Air ambulance covered up to sum insured
- Pre and post-hospitalisation: 60/180 days
- Personal accident cover of ₹1,00,000 built in
- Annual health check-up worth 0.25% of sum insured (up to ₹1,500), every year
When it makes sense: This is the variant we’d point most buyers toward. Unlimited restoration and the higher cumulative bonus do more for real-world claim protection. Worldwide Treatment adds little value if you are not likely to use it.
What to watch: No cover for planned treatment abroad. If that specific benefit matters to you, you’d need to step up to Worldwide Treatment.
Digit Worldwide Treatment
Key Features:
- All core benefits of Infinity Wallet, such as no room rent cap, zero copay, air ambulance
- Planned treatment abroad covered up to base sum insured, for conditions first diagnosed in India
- Restoration once per policy year (not unlimited, unlike Infinity Wallet)
- Cumulative bonus of 50% per claim-free year, up to 100%
When it makes sense: You specifically want the option of overseas treatment built into your base policy, rather than arranging it separately. You’re willing to pay a meaningfully higher premium for that option.
What to watch: Restoration is limited to once-a-year in this variant,
What Digit Health Insurance Plans Do Not Cover
| Exclusion | What It Means for You |
| Maternity and Newborn Cover | Not available on any current Digit health plan. If you’re planning to start or expand your family, this is a real gap to plan around. |
| Non-medical / Consumables | Gloves, syringes, PPE kits and similar items aren’t covered by default — only if you’ve added the Consumables Cover add-on for extra premium. |
| OPD Consultations | Routine outpatient doctor visits outside hospitalisation aren’t covered on the core health plans. |
| Pre-existing Conditions Before Waiting Period Ends | Standard PED wait of 3 years apply, reducible to 2 via add-on. |
| Cosmetic Procedures | Elective cosmetic treatments excluded, as with all insurers. |
| War, Nuclear and Radioactive Causes | Standard exclusion across the industry. |
| Overseas Treatment (Double Wallet, Infinity Wallet) | Not covered unless you’ve specifically opted for the Worldwide Treatment variant. |
For the complete, binding list, always read the exact policy wording document, not the plan brochure.
Network Hospitals
Digit lists 9,000+ cashless network hospitals on its own locator, as of June 2026. This is lower than most health insurers who have empanelled more than 10,000 hospitals.
What matters more than the headline number is whether your specific hospitals are on the list. Before buying, search your preferred hospitals in your city on Digit’s network locator. Network tie-ups change over time, so make sure you review the list at renewals.
Digit’s Premium Pricing
A Quick Snapshot:
| Profile | Digit Double Wallet | Digit Infinity Wallet |
| Individual, Age 25, ₹15L sum | ₹7,677 | ₹9,153 |
| Family, 2 Adults (31, 32), ₹15L sum | ₹11,515 | ₹13,730 |
| Family, 2 Adults + 1 Child (35, 34, 5), ₹15L sum | ₹14,202 | ₹16,933 |
| Seniors, 2 Adults (62, 63), ₹15L sum | ₹47,898 | ₹60,308 |
Note: These are Digit’s own published base premiums for healthy individuals living in Delhi for Double Wallet and Infinity Wallet variants, calculated in June 2026. Actual premiums depend on city, medical history, and add-ons chosen.
Value assessment: Relative to comparable plans from HDFC ERGO, Care Health or Niva Bupa for similar sum insured, Digit tends to price competitively, but the gap narrows at higher ages. That lines up with an insurer still building out its senior-citizen claims experience and pricing more conservatively for that segment.
Should You Consider Digit Health Insurance?
Digit works well for a specific type of buyer.
Consider Digit If:
- You want a smooth digital experience
- You’re comfortable with a newer insurer with limited policy and claim experience
- You want a plan with minimal restrictions on core benefits at competitive premium rates
Look For Alternatives If:
- You prioritise an insurer with a longer, more tested claims history
- You strongly prefer the widest possible cashless hospital network above most other factors
- You specifically want maternity cover in your policy
Algates Insurance Verdict
Digit is a genuinely well-built insurer. The claim settlement ratio and ICR data back up the reputation rather than just the marketing. The no copay, no room rent cap structure is real value, and Infinity Wallet’s unlimited restoration is a meaningful benefit.
That said, Digit is a new insurer who is still building its long term claims track record.
Our read: For most young and first-time health insurance buyers, Digit is one of the better value options available today. We particularly like Infinity Wallet because it removes many common policy restrictions without charging a significant premium. The main trade-off is that Digit is still building a long-term claims track record and has a smaller network than some established competitors.
