Pre-Policy Medical Check-Up

Pre-policy medical check-up in health insurance is the medical examination that the applicant has to undergo at the policy application stage. This medical evaluation helps the health insurer understand the health condition of the applicant and assess the risk involved in providing health coverage.

A pre-policy medical check-up is typically required when the applicant is aged above 45 or 60 years. The check-up includes basic tests, such as ECG, blood serum test, complete blood count and lipid profile test. The list may vary depending on the insurer.

However, many new-age health insurance plans do not require pre-policy medical check-ups. The insurer’s decision to issue the policy is purely based on the information provided by you at the application stage.
