Premium

Premium in insurance refers to the amount the policyholder pays to the insurance company in exchange for a transfer of risk. Premiums are paid on a regular basis, such as annually or monthly.

If you have a life or health insurance cover, you need to pay the premium on a regular basis to keep the cover active. Failure to pay the premium on the next renewal date leads to the lapse of coverage or termination of policy.
