Rider / Add-on Cover
A rider is an add-on feature or benefit that a policyholder can purchase along with the base insurance policy at an additional cost. Riders in insurance are not stand-alone products and can only be attached to a base plan.
For instance, a person with diabetes can buy an instant cover rider, which covers diabetes from day 1, along with their base health insurance policy. It waives their waiting period for diabetes under the policy.
