Niva Bupa Reassure

Overview

Niva Bupa Reassure is a one-of-a-kind health insurance plan launched by Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited. It is an all-inclusive plan that covers all the basic benefits, apart from offering a good no-claim bonus and unlimited restorations. The plan also offers day 1 coverage for diabetes and hypertension with an add-on.

The plan was initially aggressively priced. However, the insurer revised the premium upwards a couple of times since its launch. Additionally, Niva Bupa faces a lot of service and claim-related issues, which reflect in its high volume of claim complaints. Will the insurer be able to resolve service issues and be a customer champion? Only time will tell.

Plan Benefits

Inpatient hospitalisation expenses covered up to sum insured

Niva Bupa Reassure health insurance plan covers all hospitalisation and related expenses up to the sum insured with no copayment or limits. This makes it a comprehensive plan suitable for all age groups.

No room rent limit

The plan does not impose any room rent restrictions. Choose any room during hospitalisation, and your insurer covers the cost fully.

All day care treatments covered

Many treatments or surgeries done under anaesthesia now require less than 24 hour hospitalisation. The plan covers the cost of all such treatments fully.

Get coverage for pre and post-hospitalisation expenses

This is an all-inclusive plan that covers hospitalisation-related medical expenses up to 90 days before admission and 180 days after discharge. These expenses include doctor consultations, diagnostic tests, and medication, among others.

Modern treatments covered

The plan also covers the cost of some modern treatments (list included). However, some modern robotic surgeries include a capping of Rs. 1 Lakh.

Covers alternative treatments

Do you want to consider an alternative treatment for your ailment such as Ayurveda or Homeopathy? Now you do not have to worry. The plan covers the treatment expenses of alternative medicines such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy on a hospitalisation basis.

Get cover even if you are forced to be hospitalised at home

Are you forced to be hospitalised at home? Think of a situation when hospital beds are unavailable or the patient’s medical condition does not allow him to be moved to a nearby hospital. This is called domiciliary hospitalisation. The plan still covers the expenses related to hospitalisation if done under the supervision of a medical practitioner and exceeds 3 consecutive days.

Home care treatment covered

Regular sittings required for Dialysis or Chemotherapy can be done at home. The insurer covers the expenses if the patient undergoes such sittings offered by a registered home care provider.

Covers organ donor expenses

Organ transplant surgeries are expensive. Moreover, the donor also requires surgery to harvest the organ. But you don’t have to worry anymore. The insurer covers the cost of harvesting an organ from a donor in case you are the organ recipient.

Unlimited restorations of sum insured available

You do not have to worry about coverage for the next claim if you have already made a claim. With the Reassure feature, your insurer restores your sum insured unlimited times during a policy year if your base cover is fully or partially exhausted. This feature comes in handy if you need to make multiple claims during any policy year.

Get no-claim bonus for claim-free years

With the Booster feature, you get a 50% no-claim bonus for every claim-free year. The bonus is capped at 100% of the base sum insured. Your no-claim bonus reduces by 50% of the sum insured in case you make a claim.

Get free health check-up every year

The plan offers free annual health check-up for all insured lives from day 1.

Get discount for healthy lifestyle

Maintain a healthy lifestyle by walking daily a set number of steps to earn reward points. Use these points to get a discount on your next premium. Step counting is done via the insurer’s mobile app.

Ambulance charges covered

You get coverage for road ambulance charges up to Rs. 2000 per hospitalisation. Air ambulance charges are covered up to the sum insured in case of emergency.

Get daily cash for shared accomodation

You get a daily cash benefit of Rs. 800 or Rs. 1000, depending on your base sum insured, if you choose to stay in a shared accommodation during hospitalisation.

Second medical opinion available

Do you need a second medical opinion for any illness? The insurer covers the expenses related to availing a second medical opinion from a medical practitioner if the hospitalisation claim for that illness has already been admitted.

Add-ons

Safeguard – To cover non-medical items

This add-on offers multiple benefits. Your sum insured increases every year in line with inflation. Additionally, your no-claim bonus does not reduce if your claim amount in a year is less than Rs. 50,000. Moreover, you get coverage for non-medical items, such as masks, syringes, gloves, etc.

Hospital Cash

With this add-on, you get a daily cash benefit of Rs. 1000, Rs. 2000, or Rs. 4000, depending on your sum insured, for each day of hospitalisation to cover incidental expenses related to hospitalisation. The benefit is available for a maximum of 30 days per policy year.
